Time to Give Your Dog a Bath?
Having a dog means having responsibilities too. One of the responsibilities that one has to consider when having a dog is giving it a bath. A dog is not like a grown human where they take a bath on their own.
They are more like babies who need to be given a bath forever as long as you have them. The worst part is, when you don’t give them a bath, the responsibility or karma of not giving them a bath will haunt you.
Trust me, you would not want a stinky dog, the smell is unbearable, unless you have an aficionado with stinky smell. Nevertheless, giving a bath to your dog is really important here are some tips and proper ways to bathe your dog.
Giving a bath to a dog is not one owner’s favorite past time to do with his pet. It is a nightmare for some. The best way to do give your pet a bath is to sneak up on him. When your dog enters your house without barking or making a sound, it is the best time to give him or her bath. To make both your bathing experience more fun, here are some advices.
Different dogs have different lifestyles and it is their lifestyle that dictates how much bath you should be giving to your dog. Some dog’s that play a lot outside will obviously need a bath frequently. Dogs with a very smooth coat also do not need to have frequent baths, but it depends on their lifestyle too.
Before giving them a bath, consult with your veterinarian as to what shampoo is best for their breed. Do not also give your dog frequent baths such as once a week because it will remove vital oils that will cause the skin of your dog to dry out.
Here are some other things aside from shampoo that the owner should also prepare for the bath.
• The shampoo that the veterinarian has recommended. Avoid using people shampoo, it might produce allergic reactions.
• Mineral oil to put in the eyes of the dog to protect its eyes from the suds.
• Cotton balls that are just the right size to put in your dog’s ears to prevent water from entering.
• Wash cloth or sponge
• Towels – a bigger dog may require more towels
• Brush and comb for the coat
• Soft brush for his nails and in between toes
• A rubber tub mat
By preparing these things, you’ll now be halfway your goal of removing
that stinky smell on your dog. Now you’ll only have to get your mindset
right for the bigger and harder battle of giving your dog the actual bathing
process.
